About The Role:
- An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Scientist to join our busy laboratory on a permanent full-time basis
- The role will include microbiological/bacteriology culture reading of Swab, Genital, Urine and Faeces Benches.
- Setup of susceptibility testing
- Performing manual microscopy techniques (i.e urine and sterile site cell counts, Gram stains and faecal stains)
- Utilising some microbiology automation (i.e. MALDI-TOF, VITEK, Atellica)
- The position will require you to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team.
- The hours will vary to meet the operational & organisational requirements and will include rostered shifts Monday to Sunday, with occasional public holiday work and participation in our on-call roster
About You:
- Appropriately qualified – Degree in Applied Science (MLS) or recognised equivalent
- Eligible for professional membership of the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists
- Previous experience in Microbiology or within a laboratory environment desirable
- Proficient, motivated and highly organised with great attention to detail
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team
- An understanding of quality control techniques
- The ability to work under pressure
- Experience in microbiological/bacteriology culture reading and the use and operation of microbiology analysers will be considered an advantage
- Must be able to live and work in Australia on a permanent basis
